This is a new year again, isn’t it? So, what should I do? Or what do you want me to do?

I’ve been d*mned by the year 2011 so I want to give the 2012 a different thing. But before that, I want to leave 2011 with a very big gratitude especially:

• for those people who said that every d*mned thing happened for a reason yet can’t give me at least half

• for those people who give their sweetest lie in order to make themselves pretty for my eyes

• for those people who has been good to me whenever I was in front of them

• for those people who proved that promises are meant to be broken

• for those people who give me a hand and kick when I was so down

And for the year++ (Ooops! It’s 2012!), how I love the number 12. What’s in it? I don’t know too. I just love it! Bollocks!

Happy Birthday!

I asked a friend of mine on what she thinks, is an Atheist should celebrate Christmas or not. Well, I didn’t got an answer because she said, she don’t know.

I also asked Google about that thing and I am glad that he got some answer. I spent some time reading pages about Christmas and Atheism. And here’s what I’ve learned.

Christmas is a hard season for Atheists. Why? It is very seldom where you can see a whole family of Atheists. Most of Atheists were alone in the family. I mean, most of the times, there’s only one or two Atheists in a family, other members (most) are Christians. The thing here is that believing in god mean nothing with an Atheist but family is important to them.

Like other religions, there are strong-Atheism. I have read about billboards campaign for not celebrating Christmas. But others just let it pass together with their family.

Well, for me, it’s just a showing of respect. Members of my family are Christians. I don’t want to be a killjoy for their celebration. I don’t to ruin a special and once-a-year season for them. This is just an act of showing respect and a hope to get same respect in return for my beliefs.

May I greet everyone a Happy Holidays and a simple wish for peace.

Memories are still fresh.

I can still feel his arms warmly wrapping me. I can still feel the Christmas breeze gently caressing my skin because of his gifts. I can still smile as I browse my Facebook account and read all his messages for me. I still repeat reading his saved text messages on my phone. I can still see him smiling at me and cheering me up when I’m experiencing a conflict. Ah! I miss that smile that makes my worries free and completes my day. We were once a happy couple in our own world.

We felt magic and love as the breeze of December came. Christmas songs began to play in every radio stations. Children’s caroling made a pleasant song to hear for us. It was December 16, the day has come. It was our first year anniversary. I became the happiest person at that day. He gave me the love that I’m longing for. He taught me how o love and how to appreciate Christmas. I don’t believe in celebrating Christmas then. He surprised me an early Christmas dinner at the park. He was with his sweetest smile. I can see in his deep brown eyes that he love me. He knelt down and began to say these words, “Happy Anniversary, Honey”.

And from his pocket, he brought out a little red box. Tears are ready to fall on my cheeks.

“Honey, I give you this ring as a sign of my love, as our foundation of love. I know you’re not yet ready for marriage but for me I now pronounced that you are my better half. I love you so much Honey.”
Tears were falling now. I never expect or dream as lovely and happy like this. This is the man that I want to spend the rest of my life. I accepted the ring and kiss him with so much love. The cool puff of air and the whiff of Christmas witnessed that day of ours.

Our love for one another became tighter. This was a dream come true for me. He was almost the perfect guy I had dreamt before. He loved me as much as I love him. I long to be with him forever. Words alone cannot describe the blissful times I had with. His distinctive voice would just banish my blues away. Life is truly a heaven to experience such a true love. I had always appreciated him and so did he.

Those times went on for a year. And now, we can still feel the scent of Christmas. It was again the season of love. It was again our favorite month, our favorite holiday. All of our days are filled with love. This Christmas would be the best for me because I have him. I have him. But then, the inevitable happened. My hands are still shaking and I’m sweating as I reminisce that day. I want to go back and fix that incident. But all I can do is to face it.

It was December 15, one day before our second year anniversary. I received a text message coming from him at around eight in the evening.

“Honey, I’m on my way home. We just made a project at Ric’s place. I love you so much.”

“Drive safely. You take care. I love you too, honey. Text me when you’re home” I replied.

“Ok honey. I love you so much.” He replied.

He always put “I love you so much” in every message he sends. I waited for his text. Two hours had passed I still I don’t receive any text message coming from him. I am worried. I dialed his number, but he doesn’t answer it. I started contacting him again. I feel anxious and shivering of my hand as I hear the tone from his line. Finally! Someone answer it. A girl answered the phone and made myself fall on my knees as she said these words, “Are you the girlfriend of Mr. Kevin? He’s in the hospital right now. Car accident.”

Tears began to drop. I hurriedly went to the hospital. I saw him with blood all over his body. It makes me weak as I saw him in that scenario. The doctors are doing their best to gain more of his breathing. But time has stopped, my world, our world had stopped.
“Time of death, 12:01 AM, December 16.”

I cried and cried. He was gone. He left me all alone. The police gave me a bouquet of white roses and a letter. They found it at the crime scene. I opened the letter.

Hi Honey,
Yes! We made it again for 2 years! Happy Anniversary.
I just wanted to write this letter and express to you my full love. I might not make it up to you.

We’ve been for years. We’ve been through ups and downs and face it together. We always felt the magic of love. You always make me smile and happy. I am sure that you will be my one and only. I want to spend every single second of my time with you. I want to build a family with you. I am not complete without you. The first time I saw you there was something that would bloom and that was “LOVE”. Sorry if I caused you some pain. If ever we’ll not be together always remember that I’ll be on your side. I don’t want to see you crying just because of me. Here is a bouquet of your favorite flowers. I love you so much honey.

Tell me why do things have to change when they were perfect from the start? Why do we have to lose everything that we have always been holding onto, after everything that we’ve been through together? I thought that this love was our destiny. I thought that you would always stay by my side. All I ever wanted for us is to be happy, but I guess things weren’t like the way it was before.

Even though our love didn’t last, I truly realized how it felt like to have a true love. Goodbye is the hardest word to say. I agree because what makes it hard to utter is when you are telling it to someone whom you really love and had given you so much love. Yes, I want him back but there’s nothing I can do but to let him rest in my past. But I will always relieve those sweet and happy memories with him. He will always be within me.

It was again the seasons of love. The cool breeze of December has come.

I am a big fan of bands whose playing songs under the gothic/ symphonic metal genre. The genre wasn’t popular here at Philippines but gained its major popularity in European countries. And my favorite gothic/ symphonic metal band, Epica, revealed the name of their new album.

It was already announced before that Epica team was working on a new concept album. This is another reason why I love Epica. Their albums aren’t just collection of songs. Their songs are stories connected to the album’s name. You need to listen to all songs to fully understand and appreciate the concept.

And now, Epica fans, like me, get more excited when they announce the name of the new album. Here’s the announcement from the official website of Epica:

REQUIEM FOR THE INDIFFERENT

This title refers to the end of an era. Mankind can no longer stick their head in the sand for the things that are happening around us. We are facing many challenges. Time became so slow as I am getting excited to hear the songs inside the album. This will gonna be another great epic from Epica.

Readers of this blog (if it have) knew that I am a Pro-RH citizen. Besides, I published my stand before and still, the bill was still a bill. Oh yah, I know, the House won’t listen to a citizen’s view.

I am a follower of the RH feeds on different news sites. Every time I’m gonna see the letters R and H together, I will click the link to read what was that all about. And guess what? Disappointment is still the reaction from me.

I now wonder why this bill, which I believe to be one of the best-ever bill proposed, can’t make it’s way to the next level. Yes, opposition was there. We can’t disregard them. But as far as I can see and read on news, they are the minority. Then why the majority doesn’t have the power? Is it only on elections that the majority rules? Or is it that we are just practicing the separation of the church and state on a fake way?

I don’t have the knowledge about laws or the procedures that a bill should go before it becomes a law. But I read about the thing that it must be an election between the honorable representatives and senators before it can be signed as law. Then why that election still doesn’t happen? Maybe they are all thinking of their Christmas break. Awful!

It would be a great shame if they would pass the EDSA to Cory bill before passing a great bill like RH.

Pass that bill! RH now!

The Philippines is a place where you can see the names and pictures of politicians everywhere. It seems like everyday is a campaign day. I don’t know about the other countries if they have the same thing as this. But I am tired of it.

Recently, I have read about the news on “anti-epal” bill. At first, I thought that it’s just another non-sense bill like the “anti-planking” one. But then, I saw the name of Sen. Miriam who proposed the “anti-epal” bill. So, it caught my interest to read it. And I just learned that it’s an awesome bill. A bill that I am waiting to proposed by our lawmakers.

What Is “Anti-EPAL” Bill About?

Well, it’s a bill that when becomes a law, will punished any government official once their name or pictures were posted on any place that credits their names for a certain project. I hate those thing. It might be their project but they were elected to do that. They were get paid to do that. And where those money came from? Taxes!

So, instead of putting their names and ever-smiling face on those projects, as a citizen, I want to see that the taxes which deducted from my salary every month goes not to display their faces. And besides, I don’t want to see the Philippines decorated by those faces.

Thanks Sen. Miriam for proposing awesome bills. The problem now is, not everyone can understand the goodness of your proposals. We will wait until those bills became laws.

There’s nothing scary about this Halloween special post, but questions were left behind it.

I heard a lot of things about Filipino mythology when I was still a child from the family elders. Sometimes, I became interested and sometimes it scared me.

When I was in high school, my interest of Filipino mythology rose again when Roman and Greek mythology were discussed. The same thing when I read about Hinduism. They’re quite similar though.

By the way, I have here a list of characters of our own mythology and I have a question in the latter part.

The most known of them all was Bathala which is the ancient supreme god. In fact, during the spread of Christianity in the country, he is the only god in the mythology who was not demonized by the priests.

Other gods in the mythology were Lakampati, Pati, Lakambakod, Idiyanale, Amansinaya, Amanikable, Diyan Masalanta, Apolaki, Mayari, Lakambini, Mangkukutod, Anitong Tawo, Kabunian, Benguet Kankana-eys, Ginoong Ganay, and more. Though they were considered as gods, Christian priests demonized them during the colonization long time ago. Why? I don’t know.

There’s also mythical creatures in the past that were still believed these days. And the most popular is the Aswang (shapeshifters) which believed to be active near a pregnant woman. Other creatures that we might know or do not know were Bungisngis (one-eyed giant), Diwata (enchantress), Duwende or nuno (dwarves, goblins, elf), Ekek or Manananggal (bird-like humans), Kapre (a giant who used to smoke), Tikbalang (half-human and half-horse), Tiyanak (evil babies who died before receiving baptism), Bangungot (a monster of nightmare), and more.

You know what? I want to see an image of these creatures together in one. But I can’t find any on the internet.

Now, I would like to ask why we considered them as myth? As far as I know, before the spread of Christianity, Filipinos believed in this mythology. In fact, there are some of these beliefs are still present in some areas specially on provinces.

They were considered as myth because they weren’t true? Or because there’s no book like Christian’s bible supporting it?

If there’s god, what if he is the one on our mythology? Or what if those that are written on that book was also a myth? What if the true evil was in disguised of a known god?

Well, my cryptic mind is just asking. But I don’t expect answers from a closed-mind holy people. Sorry for being a free thinker.
